Radio: And my guest today is Mia Rose,19 only and she's already a great success. And in March we're going to hear talking about your album Mia, tell us what can you reveal

Mia: I only can say that it's got a Portuguese song

Radio: But have you finished it already?

Mia: No there are a couple songs left...3 or 4. We're going to finish and maybe it will be out on Spring

Radio: And which Portuguese song would you like to sing? a cover or your own material?

Mia: Nope, I've already written a portuguese one

Radio: Already? Really?

Mia: Yep

Radio: And can't you just tell us a bit more?

Mia: It's a romantic song

Radio: Romantic song well, that sounds like a good clue cool. So your mother is portuguese but your father is english...but you're actually english born.

Mia: Yes, I'm English born

Radio: But you feel more Portuguese...

Mia: Yes I totally feel more portuguese. I'm going to be portuguese in my heart forever

Radio: But you have lived in the UK right?

Mia: Yes I was born there and when I was 9, I came to Portugal

Radio: You were very young but did you remember some adaptation problems? Because a 10 year girl change of country, change school, change friends suddenly...

Mia: No it was fine, because when I came here, I went to an English School so the atmosphere was all the same, about talking English. But as I was constantly visiting my grandmother here, it's wasn't so difficult the adaptation

Radio: You're only 19 but you've done so many stuff. You used to be a model for example...

Mia: Yes I was

Radio: And now why aren't you anymore?

Mia: It has just gone. I was then I’m not anymore

Radio: Because there’s a famous model that everyone is talking about who is am..Carla Bruni, the wife of French Republic Present

Mia: Oh yes

Radio: She’s a model and a singer

Mia: Yeah she’s gorgeous

Radio: Yes she is, I agree with you. But have you ever considered be the two of them at the same time? Be a model and a singer at the same time? Did you had enough of the fashion’s shows

Mia: Actually I’m too short for those kinds of shows. But I love singing so I’ll focus 100% on singing thing

Radio: Yes, yes. And well, we know that you studied. Do you still do it or the studies are on stand by?

Mia: I had to leave college to focus on music but I’m actually studying on a college that can make me finish my studies while I’m focusing on music

Radio: Oh, that’s fantastic! Is it an English school?

Mia: Yes, Open University

Radio: Very good and can we know what is those studies about?

Mia: Journalism and English Literature

Radio: Journalism, huh? Then you can take the microphone if you want (laughs) And we’ll listen to Mia Rose in just a bit. Are you going to play what? Two songs?

Mia: Yeah two songs, Your Body is a Wonderland by John Mayer, and Bubbly by Colbie Caillat

Radio: Your Body is a Wonderland, a fantastic cover that is played by her on Youtube, I asked her to play it. We’ve been chatting all week and I was always saying “you gotta play this song”

Mia: Yeah, it was

Radio: It’s such a great song. And then the other one is a original one right?

Mia: No no, the second is by Colbie Caillat, but then we will hear an original one

Radio: Oh, but that’s after 5 PM

---- - ---

Radio: And we’re back with this lovely young lady, Mia Rose. And she’s ready on our radio station auditorium to sing her songs. Two cover one is by John Mayer and it is called your body is Wonderland. Mia Rose live on Radio Clube Portugues

(She plays the song)

Radio: Droplets played by Mia Rose live

Radio: And she still is here with us. Send us emails and phone calls so you can talk with her now. And now another song by John Mayer

(She plays the song)

Radio: And I’m here with Mia again. And Mia, I’ve asked a girl friend that you know to be with us today. Is good to know that there are amazing talents in nowadays on Portugal and people have to know it. So tell us about your friendship with Ana

Mia: We’re best friends. We went to school together

Radio: But that friendship came from a same background story…

Mia: Yeah, she’s half English too, but she has always lived in Portugal

Radio: So tell us about Audacity

Mia: Audacity? (laughs) That was a band - I mean me and her. We made our songs, we played really tiny shows in Portugal, and we are really attached to each other. We wanted to have it all

Radio: Then why aren’t you together now? What did you go separated ways?

Mia: She was into more acoustic and I was more into R&B, but when I grabbed a guitar I just fell in love with it. I really love acoustic

Radio: And the fact is that See your face…

Mia: Seen your face

Radio: Seen your face is a song by both of you and is actually a funny party as we can see by the youtube video

Mia: (laughs)

Radio: And let’s see it’s a

Mia: It’s a silly video

Radio (laughs) silly. That’s your word but I actually enjoyed watching it. You’re both having fun and living it.

Mia: Yes, we had a blast and we’ve got to have fun doing it.

Radio: Mia Rose through all the evening, you can talk with us (…)

(Commercial)

Radio: We’re very lucky because we caught Mia already packed up to Norway. So what are you going to do there?

Mia: Well, I’m going to record, I hope so, a song with Star Gate, they’re fantastic, producers in Norway

Radio: So it is for March’s record right?

Mia: Yeah

Radio: So talking about Portuguese music. You love Rui Veloso’s work. Would you like to sing a duet with him?

Mia: Wow, that would be an amazing dream

Radio: I think if he heard you sing, he would like to work with you

Mia: Well, I’ve met him already and he’s a fine man

Radio: What did he say about you?

Mia: That’s funny because he was having lunch at my father’s restaurant and I went there and I apologized to him because I sang his song online and he was like “Mia Rose, right?” and I said yes and he told me that his father, 84, has seen the video on the internet

Radio: Fantastic

Mia: Yeah, he was really nice

Radio: Did he tell you some advices?

Mia: He just told me to live it and enjoy it

Radio: And are you?

Mia: Yes, very much

Radio: No matter what happens?

Mia: Exactly

Radio: Madre Deus, I know you like it…Teresa Salgueiro, have you met?

Mia: No, I haven’t, but I wish someday

Radio: So, in the air now “Haja o que Ouver” by Madre Deus. Evening with Mia Rose. She’s only 19 and she’s not a promise, she’s already a great talent

Mia: So sweet

(…)

Radio: And my guest is Mia Rose (…) She’s going to stay with us all evening and by 5 PM she will reveal us an original song that features her upcoming album. And festivals? Have you got any experience of it?

Mia: Festivals…?

Radio: Yes, music festivals

Mia: But the experiences are as me going to see it or me playing in one?

Radio: You playing in one festival. Have you ever done it or you still do those little shows to family and friends?

Mia: I’ve made already those quick shows and I’ve played on my school and there was a good crown but I’ve never played a really show, with thousands of people that I don’t know

Radio: So you’re waiting for the album comes out so you can begin with those shows

Mia: Yeah I’m thinking about it I mean I want to do it

Radio: Yes and well…where did the idea of putting up a video of you playing a song on Youtube come from? It was a year ago right?

Mia: Yeah, year ago maybe. A year ago, I came back to England, I was spending my holidays on Portugal and my two best friends challenged me to upload a Youtube video

Radio: Which one was the first song?

Mia: Beautiful Disaster by Kelly Clarkson. Because she’s my favourite singer and it was just for challenge it didn’t mean anything serious. Radio: And then people asked for more because you could see their reactions

Mia: exactly.

Radio: So you started receiving emails…

Mia: Yeah, people supporting me saying “Oh upload another one”. And as I was uploading daily, my audience just got bigger

Radio: how did you record those videos? You’ve got someone that records it or you put it on a table

Mia: (laughs)

Radio: ...on a table strategically…

Mia: It all started that way, putting a camera above some books on my desk but then it was recorded by MAC

Radio: So that’s explains the quality of the videos

Mia: (laughs)

Radio: By this time, your fans are worldwide I mean you’ve got fans everywhere, even on Australia. And those fans support you and listen to your songs and create websites right?

Mia: Yes

Radio: And they share the news…

Mia: Yes, every websites knows everything. When something happens, a website tells the other and then all of them know it already and it shows the support and the way they want to help me they want me to continue my work and so

Radio: And they know you’re hear on Radio Club Portugues

Mia: Yes they know it

Radio: And they must be really dedicated because fans are hearing this live without even understanding a word

Mia: (Laughs) poor guys. But it’s their support

Radio: Yeah, they are just listening to this so that they can hear you sing. Unconditional support…Let’s do a quick break to news we’ll talk later and we’ll check the emails that have been sent to Mia Rose

Radio: And Filipe sent an email saying “I listened to an interview a few days ago and I kind of wanted to search about her and watch her videos and when I found them I was just impressed by her voice and her music quality. I became her fan from the very first moment. And I just found it funny why foreign people question about the video of the song “Lourenço” (Lawrence) and just a few people know that he’s her actual boyfriend.

Mia: (laughs)
Radio: “Big kisses for that great girl” Do it as Filipe did and send a comment to Mia… So let’s know who Lourenço is

Mia: he’s my boyfriend and I wanted to send kisses to Filipe thank you so much (someone calls) who is it?

Mia: (laughs)

Radio: Who is this?

Mia: He’s my boyfriend (laughs)

Radio: YOUR BOYFRIEND? Well, how did he know you were on air? This is fantastic!!

(everyone laughs)

Boyfriend: (laughs)

Radio: Well, Lourenço you may be far away from our radio studios, would you like to say something to your girlfriend…am on air?

Boyfriend: Well yeah. Am…I would like to be there with you if it was possible. Seems like your shy I heard so

Radio/Mia: (laughs)

Radio: Mia, 19, with an almost recorded album…do you think things are running too fast?

Mia: Last year yes, things went too fast. But now I’m getting used to it

Radio: How do you get used to it, because every day is a new surprise something new

Mia: Yes, every day is just different I mean “Oh I’m going to Norway next week I’ve got to pack up” and you just get used to it, it’s cool

Radio: And what can you tells us about your upcoming album? We know about the American record company, Next Selection…and the album? Where is it going to be sold? Portugal?

Mia: It is going to be International. First on USA and then Europe a few months later I think

Radio: Oh so it means that if I want to ask you to do this interview again you won’t be able because of your full schedule…

Mia: (laughs) No I would come, Portugal first

Radio: Do you think Portugal will receive our music positively?

Mia: I would love it, I would really love it

Radio: So have your parents told you about how your life is going to change by March?

Mia: Hell yeah! They have calmed down and said to me “Well, you’re going to release an album, people are going to know you and recognize you, and it is going to be difficult but you’ve got to deal with it

Radio: And it was difficult? Did you have to learn fast?

Mia: Yes

Radio: did music make you grow up too fast?

Mia: Yes music’s industry made me grow fast

Radio: And what do you know about that industry, about music’s world?

Mia: I know that is very hard. It’s all that I can say. Even if someone has got an amazing talent, he/she has to work hard to be noticed and listened

Radio: Are you going to be helped by someone?

Mia: Didn’t get it, sorry

Radio: Well, you’ll have some management, someone to take care of your career but will you have someone to help you out in those moments that you feel alone?

Mia: My family, my boyfriend, my friends they are all to help me and support me

Radio: Let’s do a quick break and let’s play Rui Veloso because I asked for it because it’s my show (laughs)

Mia: Yeah, you asked, you’re the boss (laughs)

Radio: So you’re going to hear an original from you right? Which one is going to be?

Mia: Lawrence

Radio: Lawrence…oh yeah that guy that called?

Mia: Yes, that one

Radio: The one that you don’t know

Mia: Anonymous guy

Radio: (laughs) Let’s do a break…Acoustic

(Mia singing Lawrence)

Radio: Mia Rose with Lawrence, a fantastic love song to her boyfriend. And listened hide: Mia is dedicating this song to Rui Veloso, listen her cover

(*) As you may have noticed, Lawrence (Lourenço in Portuguese) is a natural Portuguese name and he’s Mia’s boyfriend. The email guy, Filipe, said he finds it funny foreign people don’t know who he is, because of the strange name. In this time, the radio man is calling him by the international name that sounds like Lawrence
